Cal United Australian Tour Diary


Day 1
Depart LAX for Sydney Australia.

Day 2
This day is lost in transit

Day 3
Arrive in Sydney at 9am. The group is picked up by coach and travel to Valentine’s Sports Park. On arrival the group is officially welcomed by Gary and Tim Lewis and designated rooms. After allowing 1 – 2 hours to settle they hop on the bus and take a drive to Sydney Harbour. After a couple of hours walking around the Harbour the group is treated to a SCA Director’s house for a real Aussie BBQ.

Day 4
A fresh 7am breakfast and then a 8:30am training session on one of Valentine’s Sports Park’s many soccer fields. After training the players freshen up and get ready for our trip to Homebush to visit the Sydney Olympic Village, home of the 2000 Olympics. The afternoon is spent shopping at the Homebush DFO shopping outlet. In the evening the group travels to Benson’s Lane for their first game on tour against Colo Cougars Soccer Club. The after-match function is enjoyable for both the US group as well as the Colo girls.

Day 5
Today the group is off to the city with the options of a bridge climb or exploring the city and doing a little more shopping. After a couple of hours in the city we head of for lunch and an afternoon at Manly Beach. This evening’s game is against Blacktown Spartans. The after-match function is a big hit yet again.

Day 6
This morning the group is off to Featherdale Wildlife Park where they get to feed the Kangaroos, hold a Koala and see a 4 metre long Saltwater Crocodile. After Featherdale the group heads to the Blue Mountains to see one of Australia’s most beautiful landmarks ‘The Three Sisters’. The group also visits scenic world where they catch the world’s steepest train down to the bottom of the mountain, catch a cable car back up the mountain and then take a cable car across the canyon with a glass floor to see everything that is happening below them. Tonight’s game is against Penrith-Nepean United and another after match function and mingling.

Day 7
Today we depart for Canberra at 9am. After a few hours drive the group arrives in Canberra at noon. First the group is taken to Mt Ainsile for a spectacular view of Canberra. After arriving at their hotel they are given some free time to explore and just take it easy. The game tonight is against Capital Football All-stars.

Day 8

After 4 days of games the players are given a well deserved rest. After a 9am sleep in the group heads off to the Australian Institute of Sport. They are given a tour of the facilities as well as half an hour in the Sportex interactive centre where they can test their skills with the best in Australian sports.  The rest of the day is spent at their own leisure and many of the group choose to do some shopping at Canberra Shopping Centre. In the evening there is a group dinner with Gary and Tim Lewis.

Day 9

This morning the group is given some free time before their mid afternoon and final match against Bel-North. After the game the group mingle with the Bel-North girls and strike up some friendships. In the evening we have a group dinner together to celebrate the Canberra road trip.

Day 10
In the morning we depart Canberra for Sydney. Tonight is the last night of the tour and the group will be staying in the city. We arrive at the hotel at noon. The group are given the day to explore and get their last minute shopping done. This evening the group is treated to dinner by SCA Sports Tours. The night is at leisure before their early flight back home in the morning.

Day 11
This morning the group departs Sydney with amazing memories of Australia and the tour they had with SCA Sports Tours.

Day 3 - Sunday 10th July Arrive in Sydney, board coach for Canberra. Kanga Cup opening ceremony.
Day 4 - Monday 11th July Tournament game, local sightseeing.
Day 5 - Tuesday 12th July Tournament game, local sightseeing.
Day 6 - Wednesday 13th July Tournament game, local sightseeing.
Day 7 - Thursday 14th July Tournament game, local sightseeing.
Day 8 - Friday 15th July Tournament game, local sightseeing.
Day 9 - Saturday 16th July Depart Canberra for Sydney. Check into hotel and start local sightseeing. Taking in all the sights of Sydney including the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and the Rocks.
Day 10 - Sunday 17th July Visit Featherdale Wildlife park where you will feed kangaroos and pat a koala. Continue on tour to the Blue Mountains and Sceinic World.
Day 11 - Monday 18th July Tour of Sydney, optional Sydney Harbour Birdge climb, visit Manly beach.
Day 12 - Tuesday 19th July Depart Sydney for USA & arrive home the same day.

Day 4 - Friday 8th July Visit Featherdale Wildlife park where you will feed kangaroos and pat a koala. Continue on tour to the Blue Mountains and Sceinic World
Day 5 - Saturday 9th July Tour of Sydney, optional Sydney Harbour Birdge climb, visit Manly beach.
Day 6 - Sunday 10th July Depart for Canberra. Kanga Cup opening ceremony.
Day 7 - Monday 11th July Tournament game, local sightseeing.
